Who Are We? Organized in 1963, The Gem, Lapidary, and Mineral Society of Montgomery County Md., Inc. was and is now Incorporated as a non-profit educational organization. Our purpose is to increase knowledge and popular interest in earth sciences, geology, mineralogy, paleontology (fossils), lapidary arts, and related subjects. Members represent a broad cross section of adults, juniors and families with all levels of expertise. Sharing this common interest, they enjoy the fun of collecting, studying, identifying, displaying, cutting, polishing, faceting, and sharing. |

Donations The Gem, Lapidary, and Mineral Society of Montgomery Co MD, Inc. donated several fine specimens, selected by a committee of members, to the Department of Mineral Sciences at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution.

The specimens which were donated. Gem, Fossil and Mineral Show The GLMSMC Gem, Fossil and Mineral Show is a big production for the club, and is always a hit with attendees. Field Trips Previous field trips have included the Medford, Pinesburg, and Rockville quarries in MD, and the Codorus and Meckley quarries in PA.
